Volunteers are needed at a workshop to help create new habitat  for our diminishing insect population Keep the date and come along on Monday 6th February 7-9pm St Kilda eco-centre (St Kilda Botanical Gardens)  Please bring some organic material and manmade containers to assemble these habitats  Start gathering material for the event such as: dry organic matter              leaves       twigs       pine cones       grass       nuts        flowers newspaper       corrugated cardboard       plastic/metal containers       plastic straws    sticks The Great Local lunch this year will be another amazing lunch served along the Yarra river. Glad to see this very large installation coming together in the Glass Cube Gallery at Cube 37. The Glass Cube is a street frontage exhibition space in the Frankston Art Centre which can be viewed day & night for this Angela Barnett & I have teamed up. This collaborative work has been staged to have a maximum viewing capacity. Angela's work can be seen projected on three giant screens at night and my all white installation can be viewed during daytime from the street. I am rushing through the last hurdles to complete these 2 large scales jellyfish installations made uniquely out of single-use plastic packaging. Monday I will be installing at the Glass Cube at Cube 37 with Angela Barnett who is making of projection of the glaciers and arctic oceans to be viewed at night around my two pendants that will be trailing onto the ground. For Immerse Art Festival I have chosen to exhibit at Knox Community Arts Centre a work titled Fan-Tastic. This work has been developing for the last 2 years. Finding and collecting new plastic means adding new pieces to Fan-Tastic, a massive wave of circular plastic assemblage. Single-use plastic are the plague of the last 60 years spreading over the past 2 centuries as we consume them at a rapid rate for 5-20mns and then throw them away. But where do they actually go?  Out of sight doesn't mean away away as society slowly is realising this fact, plastic is now coming to haunt us because plastic doesn't disappear... It stays and it lays there polluting in full sight our landscapes around the world contributing to gigantic open air dumps created to hide and get rid of our massive plastic consumption. Plastic also floats in our oceans which harms our sea life as they feed on it. Fan-Tastic represents some of the beautiful sea creatures disapearing in our oceans.  ...

While jet lagged I am writing a quick note to say that am back online and in the flesh in Australia. I have seen new and old sites that took my breath away, I have laughed and been myself as I had not done in many years, I have enjoyed and discovered many foods, I have seen many old friends and family and encountered and befriended people from all parts of the globe, I have been on adventures on uncharted territories and left traces of my passage there through my art installation but most of all I blessed my time overseas...France-Spain-Portugal you unveiled your true European beauty and it is with this message of gratitude that in the next posts I will reveal the works I could achieve whilst away in my artist residency in Spain at Can Serrat at the bottom of this gigantic mountain 'Montserrat'.
