Here is the final product on the day The WASTE GATEWAY an archway made of hundreds of single-use punnets What a fabulous event with lots of beautiful fruit and veges donated by Melbournians from their own crop and cooked by amazing chefs to create a more then delicious luncheon for 225 people on the day Happy Days!

This summer collecting hundreds of plastic punnets has been on my dial and of others.  All to be used to create the entrance arc for this year Sustainable Living Festival 2018. I am here in Sydney working away in my new studio a perfect setting for a very interesting residency which will see me collaborating with scientists from RMIT University for the first time I am following their steps looking at the possibility of a plastic-eating bacteria. My journey started 3 months ago and will culminate with an exhibition at the end of this residency at Culture at Work. Wonderful to be part of this Festival  with WORA again this year  I was privileged to be asked to put up my new work with an exhibition with 4 talented artists from Castlemaine. The Mill will be an exhibition space opposite the glorious Botanical Gardens. Plastic Waterways - installation at night  Surprised this morning to have the light streaming onto my work light and shadow adding a new dimension to this installation with a quick portrait just before we de-install  The work Plastic Waterways was a map of Victoria's waterways engraved and of the coast cut-out a project made and inspired from possum cloaks which were painted with aerial maps of the local tribe.  Creating awareness in plastic consumerism and plastic pollution is something I am passionate about in my art practice. Through my art practice, I have a visual language to contribute to the dialogue which is starting but only just starting to happen around the world. T...

Westgarth Theatre Always nice to hear that passerby thought the works on display was  or reminded them of my artwork This installation was put together for the special event for the occasion of the projection of the French Film Festival documentary Tomorrow (Demain) a must see and a positive outlook on what people already have put to action around the globe... There is an inkling of hope on the horizon but we all need to do our bit. However small or large your contribution is, your gesture is going towards a positive impact on our future for this planet.   Choosing your best shots is always a difficult decision in the making or not! This was another great opportunity to put my work up in one of the still standing old  Melbourne icon venues

January 30, 2017 Leader  COMMUNITY NEWS South East Carolyn Cardinet’s immersive artwork `Glacier’ highlights impact of plastic contamination Christian Tatman, Frankston Standard Leader AS A painter, Carolyn Cardinet found that the canvas simply wasn’t big enough for her imagination. “Often painting is representative, but I needed it (art) to be immersive,” she told the Leader. “That’s what I wanted to create with painting, but it wasn’t enough. “You can only go so far with painting. I was a bit stifled.” So five years ago, Cardinet moved from away painting and subsequently completed both a Bachelor and Masters of Visual Art. Her latest project titled ‘Glacier’ — on display at Frankston — is a collaboration with multimedia artist Angela Barnett. Cardinet said she came up with the concept after walking along a beach and being struck by the sheer amount of plastic debris that had washed up. Glad to see this very large installation coming together in the Glass Cube Gallery at Cube 37. The Glass Cube is a street frontage exhibition space in the Frankston Art Centre which can be viewed day & night for this Angela Barnett & I have teamed up. This collaborative work has been staged to have a maximum viewing capacity. Angela's work can be seen projected on three giant screens at night and my all white installation can be viewed during daytime from the street. To experience the full extent of this immersive installation come  and see it close up   during the gallery open hours. Opening Hours Tuesday to Friday 9-5, Saturday 9-2

 Organic Plastic  Working away at completing works for The Castlemaine Arts Festival 'Organic Plastic' is a curated show in boxed framed white windows @ Wide Open Road Art (WORA) cnr Hargraves & Mostyn Sts from March 5th For a while I have been toying with this idea of framing together nature and found objects. A beautiful day in Footscray, further building my totems which I have lined with a different plastic lining each. Lots of people coming in the studio today!  Perhaps this is due to the article on Artsbox artist residency in the Star Weekly November 5, 2014 printed issue by Benjamin Millar and the lovely photo taken by photographer Joe Mastroianni as seen below.
