At 7 people started to notice my drawings, which led me to think I could become an artist. In primary and secondary school I took art lessons at and out of school, during my youth I was always making things while watching TV religiously on Saturday afternoon with my dad. So at 16 exited I expressed to my father that I wanted to become an artist after all I had been working at it for nearly 10 years, this grand phrase didn’t have the grand positive response I expected. After working with scientist and researchers at RMIT University during my Art & Science residency in Sydney this year I was honoured to be asked to be a speaker for the RMIT symposium on the state of the bay. In a community, Artists are to be cherished and  recognised  and their Art is meant to be seen by all. Thank you to all who came, chatted, welcomed me in their homes and studios. It has been an amazing experience to go country for the last month with many mixed feelings I will be leaving this place today but to return soon I am sure. During this residency,  I had the pleasure to teach art & sustainability workshops at the local primary school and a month-long exhibition at Newstead Arts Hub. This beautiful building a restored train station was the perfect exhibition gallery space to show my all white work made from everyday white plastic recyclables objects. This piece of paradise is now the symbol  of the extreme pollution,  which is  felt in  o ur oceans as it is choking  fauna and destroying their ecosystem . I am here in Sydney working away in my new studio a perfect setting for a very interesting residency which will see me collaborating with scientists from RMIT University for the first time I am following their steps looking at the possibility of a plastic-eating bacteria. My journey started 3 months ago and will culminate with an exhibition at the end of this residency at Culture at Work.
